From a handful of children brought together in the year 2000, the children's choir of Sacred Heart Church has grown to a group of nearly twenty dedicated and talented girls and boys. By their faithful attendance at Mass and Saturday afternoon rehearsals these youngsters give wonderful witness to their faith and Catholic upbringing.
At the Children's Liturgy on the first Sunday of every month, the choir both leads the congregation in hymn singing, and enhances the celebration with its own repertoire of songs written specifically for children's choirs, all to the accompaniment of guitar and organ.
The BENEFITS to children are many:
- Free voice and musical training and development of skills that they will retain for a lifetime.
- The building of self-confidence and self-esteem, as most members learn to sing solo.
- Religious growth through the theology of Christian songs composed for the understanding and enjoyment of children.
- The learning of team spirit and discipline.
- The gaining of a sense of satisfaction and achievement.
- An all day summer bus trip to an amusement/theme park as a special thank you from the pastor.
